"The workshop was full of thoughtful, reflective, insightful, helpful information. I appreciated the perspective that Maria offered since she has been a practitioner for long enough...she knows the finer technical details for which apps and technology setups work well for specific activities and assignments."

Frequently Asked Questions

The workshop and Q&A sessions will be on Zoom. You will receive log in instructions in your confirmation email.

Maria has taught STEM courses remotely and online for many years and offers practical techniques specific to STEM disciplines. She goes well beyond online teaching best practices and shows you how to make them work with your content and its unique challenges.

When you register, you will receive a link to a short survey. Maria will use the information from the surveys to customize the workshop sessions to the attendees' needs. For example, if you teach in large lecture halls or if you cannot use online proctoring services, she can provide specific advice for these situations.

Many faculty have unused or reimbursed professional development funds from cancelled events. Another option is to use some of the CARES Act funds that your college receives. If neither option works, reach out to your dean or department chair and ask if they will allocate some funding to this training. Many will because of the need to have trained faculty so that students will enroll with confidence about their courses.

In the free webinar, Maria touched on lots of tips and ideas to help faculty pivot immediately to remote instruction. In this program, she goes much more in depth on planning and building an effective online course that was intended to be offered in an online format. She also provides weekly Q&A sessions so that you can continue to get advice and support as you start working on your online course.
